"Lib Dem Treasury spokesman Vince Cable tells the BBC that the exit poll result is "very strange". But he says such polls have been "horribly wrong" in the past, not least in 1992 when a Labour win was predicted but failed to materialise."
"The Lib Dems had been shown picking up strongly in north-east England in some polls during the campaign, but there is no sign of that from this result. Their share of the vote is even slightly down on 2005. It is much too early to say, but this adds some weight to the exit poll's low number for the Lib Dems. The other point to come over is a very high swing to the Conservatives in a working-class, north-eastern seat – 8%. This suggests either that the Conservatives are doing better across the board than the exit poll found, or that, despite all the speculation and Ashcroft money, the swing is actually fairly uniform."
538 sieht ne konservative Mehrheit (sehr knapp, 327 Sitze).
Aus dem 538-Liveblog:
"Daniel Berman(whom you'll hear from later) says one of the networks (Channel 4) suggested that raw exit poll results were about Cons 38, Labour 28, LiDems 23."
"BBC says there was about a 7 point swing from Labour --> Conservatives in England. 1 point swing from Conservatives --> Labour in Scotland. Also, slight swing from LibDems --> Conservatives."
